Get Canada Events Calendar Event Listings on Your Website

  • Looking for ways to add fresh content to your website so that your visitors keep coming back?
  • Tired of having an empty or outdated events page?
  • Looking for a way to simplify the process?
  • The Events List is a subset of events from our main calendar database. The calendar lists functions relevant to Canadian small business including: tradeshows, workshops, and networking events.

Its simple colour scheme works with any website, and can be resized to fit any part of any page. You can use the content to supplement your own events, or use it to create content for a page all its own. YOu can opt to display only the headlines, or choose how much (or how little) of the details you want to appear!

How to put the Canadian Events Calendar List on your site

The Canadian Events Calendar List lets you have a listing of current events without the bother of finding and formatting them yourself. Our team maintains the calendar, and your copy is updated immediately when something new is added or cancelled.

Only one line of code to add the Events List to your website:

Step 1. Copy the script to your webpage (on one line):

    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="javascript" SRC="http://feed.canadaeventscalendar.ca/eventlist.js.php?days=5&width=200"> </SCRIPT>

That code makes the exact event box you see if you click this link (opens in new window).

Step 2. Change the box to suit your website!

Customizing the contents of the Events List

You can change the number of days displayed from the default of 10 to any number between one (1) and sixty (60). For example, by changing the 10 in "days=5" to "days=5" you will now see thirty days worth of events.

    Generate your script:

Use the script generator (opens in new window), or manually change the parameters to make the calendar box suit your website.

If you do not understand HTML, use the generator to simply the process. Using your choices from the menus presented, the system will generate the exact line of JavaScript you need to display the event box you desire.

Click Here to Use the Script Generator

You can also use one of the more common scripts available for generating lists such as "Canadian Film Festivals" or "Upcoming Literary Festivals" that you will find on the right side bar there.

    Manually Changing the parameters
    (FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY):

All of these parameters are optional. If you specify no query string, the calendar will default to showing the first 10 events in the database (from across Canada) starting today. To find the numberic values that correspond to the regions, event types, and sectors, see the master list (here).

    1. &details=y - By adding this phrase to the query string (the part of the URL after the question mark), you can opt to have the full details of the events listing displayed on your page, rather than having a link through to more details.
    2. &width=200 - This specifies how wide the list will be set to be. If you do not specify this parameter, the list will not have a fixed width and will resize to the area you leave it on your website.
    3. &newwin=n - The calendar will automatically open links off-site in a new window, unless you use this parameter to specify to use the main wondow opened.
    4. &etc=[city value (numeric)] - Cities to be displayed. choose cities. To use multiple values, separate the id with a colon (":").
    5. &prov=[AB/BC/MB/etc - 2 character province name] - Cities to be displayed. choose cities. To use multiple values, separate the id with a colon (":").
    6. &etloc=[locale value (numeric)] - Regions (locales) to be displayed. choose regions. To use multiple values, separate the id with a colon (":").
    7. &eti=[sector value (numeric)] - Sectors to be displayed. choose sectors. To use multiple values, separate the id with a colon (":").
    8. &etet=[event type value (numeric)] - Event types to be displayed. choose event types. To use multiple values, separate the id with a colon (":").
    9. &start=2005-08-26 - If this parameter is specified, the server will use it as the start date for your events list. It must be in the format: yyyy-mm-dd. Without this part of the query string, it will use today's date as the start date.
    10. &days=10 - This parameter tells the system how many days worth of events to send you. If you leave it blank, it will default to sending you thirty (30) days worth of upcoming events.

Which options you choose to set depends on where on the page you are putting the list, how much room you have available to you, and your needs for your visitors.

We welcome you to use this feature; we are updating the calendar on a continuous basis.
