FILMS
“Africa On The Beach” Opening Night Party
The festival will launch with Africa On The Beach at Ontario Place’s South Beachâ. Under the stars and by the water, guests will be invited to take in Friday's opening night feature Kobolat Masroka (Stolen Kisses). This controversial film directed by Khaled El Hagar is about Egyptian youth and deals with the issues of sex, marriage and employment. After the film, guests will take to the sand to enjoy the bar and mingle with festival film directors, performers and local Afro-Canadian personalities as DJs play colorful music from the continent including soukous, high life and afro-beat.

On Saturday and Sunday, the festival will feature:
* Dancing on the Edge directed by Karen Boswall
* Timbila Muzimba and Jeux D’Enfants (Children’s Games) two short films directed by Mohamed Ben Becher

The program will close with Musa Dieng Kala’s "Has God Forsaken Africa?" Produced with the National Film Board of Canada, Kala returns to his home in Dakar, Senegal to explore why thousands of young Africans risk their lives to flee a continent scourged by war and endemic poverty.

MUSIC
A diverse talent list including African drummers vocalists and instrumental groups will energize the festival. Renowned musical director and multi-instrumentalist Kobèna Acquaa-Harrison has developed the musical program to complement the films. Other featured artists are:
