What: Does IBD Stop You?   tell a friend

When: Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Organization: IBD Adventures
Where: University of Calgary, Calgary, AB
More Info: This March, Robert Hill will embark on the final leg of his No Guts, Know Glory Seven Summits campaign. He will accomplish what few only dream of: conquering Mount Everest. A challenge only achieved by a handful of Canadians to date, Rob will be the first Canadian with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (or IBD) to complete all seven summits.

He will be joined by a young and energetic Clinton Shard on the initial push up to Everest Base Camp. Clinton, who suffers from Crohn’s disease, accompanied Rob on his last trek to Mount Kilimanjaro. Shard was inspired by Hill and learned at an early age that IBD doesn’t have to stand in the way of his hopes and dreams.

The IBD Adventures 2010 Everest trek aims to raise awareness of IBD and funds to support the Intestinal Disease Education and Awareness Society (IDEAS) and their important programs such as community-based day camps and school tours. Before leaving for Everest in late-March 2010, Rob and Clinton are launching their “IBD Doesn’t Stop Me” tour, and will be visiting the University of Calgary’s Libin Lecture Theatre on the evening of March 16th from 6:30-8:30pm to spread the word about their upcoming trek. They will be joined by speakers Dr. Remo Panaccione, Shane Devlin and Yvette Leung, who will discuss how treatments for IBD have evolved, as well as IBD and pregnancy.
