Rapid Fire Theatre (Edmonton) presents
SCRATCH
PART OF THE TORONTO FRINGE FESTIVAL
starring Kevin Gillese and Arlen Konopaki
Miles Nadal JCC, Al Green Theatre
July 5 – July 14, 2007

“….hospitalization worthy hilarity” – Toronto Sun
“Best of the Fringe” – Eye Weekly (2006) “Pick of the Fringe” – NOW (2006)
TORONTO – Following their incredible success and critical acclaim at the 2006 Toronto Fringe Festival, Scratch is back and better than ever. Two actors. Dozens of characters. Multiple storylines. A fast, furious blend of wit, music, physical comedy and more. All without a script!

Kevin Gillese and Arlen Konopaki, the comedic duo behind Scratch, take improv to the next level. Their uncanny ability to improvise has left critics and audiences wondering if it is scripted; Marc Horton of The Edmonton Journal wrote “Scratch is laugh-till-it-hurts time regardless of how planned it all might be.” But make no mistake, the show is completely new and totally improvised every time Kevin and Arlen take the stage. Still doubting? See it twice!

Scratch began with a run at the Edmonton Fringe Festival in 2005. In 2006, with the support of Rapid Fire Theatre, Scratch performed their addictive brand of comedy at the Catch 23 Tournament of Wonders (Toronto), the Vancouver International Improv Festival, and the Toronto, Winnipeg & Edmonton Fringe festivals. Along the way they have earned accolades from media across the country and attracted attention from international festivals that have them booked solid throughout 2007/2008. Following their participation in the Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver Fringe Festivals this summer, Scratch will begin a European fall tour that will include stops in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Sweden and The Netherlands before heading to Australia and New Zealand in spring 2008.

About Kevin Gillese: Kevin is an accomplished comedian and improviser, having worked professionally as a performer for ten years, he has collaborated with many major comedy companies across the country. He has also appeared in several films and television shows that have aired on both sides of the border. He is currently the Education Director for Rapid Fire Theatre.

About Arlen Konopaki: Arlen is a prolific young actor and improviser who recently graduated from the University of Alberta’s BFA acting program. He has already gone on to appear in several plays and has toured to improv festivals across Canada and the United States with Rapid Fire Theatre. He is also a budding filmmaker with two independent full-length features under his belt.

Where: Marilyn's - 200 Spadina Avenue (just north of Queen Street), Toronto, ON
More Info: Saturday, July 13, 2007
    12 - 4:30pm
(Why? We need quotes - see below)

    We're having a chocolate party!

By now you have heard all the amazing health properties dark chocolate with high cacao content has - specifically the highest ORAC measurement (antioxidant rating) of any known food. And you've seen the studies about it lowering blood pressure, improving insulin sensitivity, mood elevation, and on and on.

    Chocolate? Good for you?
Only when it's dark chocolate and only when it's not heat-processed and not combined with milk.

And then you tasted raw chocolate. Oh, you knew it had to be too good to be true. As my 19 yr old cousin so eloquently put it: "This tastes like dirt."

What if someone said that you could have the unprocessed chocolate in a form that actually tastes great? Top quality Belgian chocolate - cold pressed to retain all the antioxidants, and it tasted like the best truffles - velvety and rich, sensuous and decadent.

    *******************************************
Would you want to taste it for yourself?
    *******************************************
Well you can on Saturday, July 13, 2007 12 - 4:30pm at Marilyn's - 200 Spadina Avenue (just north of Queen Street)
No charge, just stop in and ask for your taste of the delectable decadent Xocai cold-pressed chocolate. Try the Omega bar with the hint of orange and flax seeds. Taste the original dark chocolate nuggets with acai and blueberry.

    But there's a catch!
We need some testimonials for the website. If you enjoy it (and I know you will), we're going to ask you for permission to post one or two sentences and your initials to the website http://www.chocolateforhealth.ca and possibly in brochures.

    Seem like a fair trade-off?

If you can't make it yourself, pass this along to friends and family. We're hoping to get about 40 really good quotes out of the day, so the more the merrier.

Thanks and hope to see you there!
