 More Info: In celebration of Black History Month, the Royal Ontario Museum presents Stitching Community: African Canadian Quilts from Southern Ontario, an exhibition that uses quilts made from 1848 to 1976 to explore the role of African Canadian women in strengthening community ties. The exhibition focuses on the African Canadian community in North Buxton, Ontario- a community comprised of many freed slaves who settled in Canada.

The exhibition showcases artifacts loaned from the Buxton Museum and items from the Ontario Black History Society, including quilts, photographs, tools of the trade and a variety of black cloth dolls.

During the week you will work with professional actors from the festival covering a wide variety of aspects of theatre, including improvisation, voice, work on text, stage combat... and of course Shakespeare!

At the end of the week you will get to perform in a public showcase as part of the Festival's Sunday Series!

Also included will be a LISTENING GALLERY curated by NAISA artistic director Darren Copeland. The second set of installations will open on August 4th and run until August 14th in various spaces around the Artscape Wychwood Barns and will include: BODILY LISTENING by Japanese sound artist Satoshi Morita (a series of sound installations where sounds are heard through the body); and SHE SAW ME by Randall Gagne (a sound installation that explores some of the resonant spaces at the Barns and is based on Alvin Lucier conceptual audio work I am Sitting in a Room).

Edmontonians invited to sing famous jingle to raise money for charity


From July 28th- 31st, join the BAND-AID® Brand Jingle Ambassadors at the Edmonton Capital Ex to sing the iconic BAND-AID® Brand jingle and help raise money for Safe Kids Canada. For each person who visits the BAND-AID® Brand high-tech mobile recording studio and records the famous BAND-AID® Brand jingle, $1.00 (up to a guaranteed maximum of $8,000) will be donated to Safe Kids Canada, a charity committed to inspire a culture of safety across the country in order to reduce preventable injuries among children, youth and their families.

You can also perform your rendition of the jingle for the chance to win $10,000 in travel! Recordings will be posted on www.stuckonme.ca and the entry with the most number of votes will win.
